The Animal Eye Simulator at eye level with pigs, sheep, and other smaller animals
The Animal Eye Simulator shows how cows, horses, pigs, and sheep likely perceive their surroundings. For cows and horses, the 360° camera is mounted on a hard hat or directly on the VR headset. That isn't enough for smaller animals: their eye level is significantly lower.
That is why we have developed special attachments for a standard rollator. They position the animal-eye simulator’s existing 360° camera at the eye level of smaller animals such as pigs and sheep. The software and VR headset remain unchanged; only the camera’s location changes. The person wearing the VR headset then sees the barn, the aisle, or the yard from the animal’s perspective—not from that of a standing person.
As you walk through the barn, stall, or yard, the camera remains steady at the set height and captures the view that the animal actually sees from that spot.
Why height is crucial
Seeing begins with one’s vantage point. A person looks down into the barn from above. A pig or sheep first sees the floor, the bars, the feed trough, feet, and the lower part of the doors and pens.
Many details that people hardly notice lie precisely within this field of vision:
- Thresholds and Transitions
- Light and shadow edges on the floor
- narrow passageways
- Reflections on wet surfaces
- moving legs and equipment at the animal's eye level
Without the low camera position, the simulation remains incomplete. The filters for color vision, contrast, edge blurring, and slow light-dark adaptation only look realistic when the camera is positioned where the animal actually sees.
The Attachments
The mounts are custom-made for the simulator camera. The camera housing is securely attached to the walker with minimal vibration.
